Chillpak Hollywood Hour #90

· Comment(1)

Phil spent much time this past week with his new friends from the Sacred Fools Theatre celebrating the life of their beloved friend Philip Newby. He gives a big shout out to them before asking Dean about his friend, the great director Kim Manners, who died this past week. Dean and Phil then segue from celebrating the creativity of their friends to celebrating the year in film of 2008. It’s Top Ten list time! So get your pens and paper ready, everybody, because although there won’t be a quiz, you’ll be guaranteed to hear of films that will pique your insatiable curiosity. We love your insatiable curiosity. Have we ever told you that before?

I learned about your podcasts this weekend (belatedly) and listened to this one on the way to work this morning. It was very enjoyable! I didn’t know Dean was from Winnipeg. I’ve been in Winnipeg as part of my “Grand but Polite Tour of Canada by Train” back in 2003. I had been joined by a Canadian friend from Ottawa on my trip that started in Montreal and ended in Vancouver. When I said that the name of the lake (Lake Winnipegosis) sounded like a medical condition, my friend said, “Yes, it’s a medical condition in which you are forced to stay in Winnipeg longer than you’d planned.” (The cross country train only runs 3-4 times a week so we ended up an extra night there.) But it was a great trip through a great country. Would love to visit again.
