Three years in the making! From the art deco masterpiece that is the Eastern Columbia Building, high stop the historic core of the fashion district in downtown Los Angeles, all the way to London’s Lyceum Pub, Dean and Phil celebrate the third anniversary of YOUR Chillpak Hollywood Hour on both sides of the pond! In L.A., your friends in podcasting discuss interviews they conducted (for their documentary) with Reg Presley (lead singer of The Troggs) and journalist Mark Bennett. They also introduce clips recorded in London where the Thelma and Louise of podcasting, along with special guests Graham Hancock (a renowned scholar and author who specializes in ancient mysteries) and Robin Tudge (who co-authored The Rough Guide to Conspiracies) participated in a panel discussion on conspiracy as part of the Sci-Fi-London Film Festival. Then, Dean and Phil hop over to a cozy booth in a favorite pub across town to toss back a couple dozen pints and to swap inappropriate jokes and filmmaking stories they’ve never shared. From crop circles to Cameron Diaz, from knowledge of lost civilizations to naughty nun jokes, there’s something for everyone. Eavesdrop on the conversation and enjoy! And please help us make the fourth year of the show, the best year yet!

Aww. Love the exerpt from the bar. <3
.
The discussion at the Film Festival is GREAT!
I love the story of Dean meeting his family in Sweden- aww. The problem of transport almost took him back to the speed of Renaissance,eh?
Anyway- good that you both made it back in a whole
I have two questions though:
Since its your anniversary and all. You know, for groupies like me.
1) Is there an address for the offices of Rational Exuberance to send gifts and fan letters to?
2) While still reading about memorials and collective memory I was wondering if maybe America payed for memorials built elsewhere? Like in Vietnam or Irak? Any memorials for civilians killed during wars. Hmm. Just wondering. Surely you have some for veterans. BUT-oh yes- you were wondering if there are any connected to conspiracy.
Laos maybe. Check this out http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9fLE6LqXNOg

Hi, I’m the big American girl from the pub quiz at Sci-Fi London. I just wanted to say how much I enjoyed meeting you guys there and to thank you for sharing the excerpt from your panel discussion – now I’m really sorry I missed the whole thing live.
A story I have to share: At the time of the film festival I was working a temp job at a doctor’s office. Later that same week a very famous movie star accompanied a family member to an appointment. I mentioned this on Facebook and compared it with meeting you a few days earlier. The difference to me was not the “level” of celebrity but that this was a famous person just doing an ordinary thing that people do, rather than a public appearance as part of their work in the entertainment business.
A friend commented that she probably wouldn’t have recognized the famous movie star, but – this is a direct quote – “I would have lost my mind over Dean Haglund.”
I must say I concur – I’m still a bit starstruck. (Phil, sorry to leave you out; it’s only because I hadn’t heard of you before. The more I hear of the podcast the more impressed I am with you as well.)
And then another friend pointed out that by sharing someone’s personal medical information (i.e. divulging that an individual, who happens to be related to a celebrity, saw an unnamed doctor for an unspecified reason) I was probably breaking all kinds of privacy laws, and that really harshed my mellow.
Anyway, congratulations on 3 years of podcasting! I’m looking forward to expanding my mind with all the archives. You’ve already given me lots of good recommendations for books and shows to check out, and it also feels like “getting back to my roots” revisiting some subjects I used to have lots of interest in but hadn’t thought about lately.
Now to refresh the page again to see if the latest episode has uploaded yet…
