Chillpak Hollywood Hour #293

Happy Christmas, everybody!

This week’s show gets off to a flying start with a recap of the “Live Event of the Week” – the 28 hour marathon co-hosted by your friends in podcasting to ring in the end of the Mayan Calendar.

Dean discusses his road trip from hell.

Phil discusses catching up on some 2012 movies.

Dean and Phil revisit last’s week’s show all about the Top Films of All Time by looking at what directors had films mentioned most often on the lists submitted by guests of YOUR Chillpak Hollywood Hour.

The show wraps up with a personal “Celebrity Death”, a wonderful character actor who was helping Dean and Phil in the development of their new film, The Lady Killers.

Speaking of The Lady Killers, please take the time to learn more about the film and how you can help (and PLEASE, spread the word!), by visiting here.

And if you’ve never seen Dean and Phil’s film The Truth is Out There . . . Why haven’t you? It’s available here.

Finally, we hope you will enjoy this holiday greeting from your friends in podcasting …

Chillpak Hollywood Hour #281

The month just ended (September 2012) saw the most downloads of YOUR Chillpak Hollywood Hour since the show went independent in January of 2011 and your friends in podcasting celebrate this news with perhaps the most hilarious opening they’ve ever had!

Even when the irreverence ends, the jokes and witty bon mots continue in full effect as Dean Haglund and Phil Leirness take on (or revisit) such topics as Catholic weddings, fluoridation of water, Monsanto’s House of the Future, educational institutions, corporate culture, government bureaucracies, a murder mystery in Phil’s neighborhood of Los Feliz, celebrity deaths, emails from listeners and a wide range of films dealing with mental health issues.

And remember, The Truth Is Out There is now out there on BLU-RAY!

Chillpak Hollywood Hour #215

This week’s show has a truly international flair. As you all know, your friend in podcasting, Dean Haglund, hails from Canada. Many of you also know that before that, the Haglund line traces back to Swedish royalty. Few of you probably know, however, that Dean’s co-host, Phil Leirness, traces his ancestry to Scandinavia as well. To be specific: the vikings of Norway! Although Phil has never visited the land of his ancestors, he’s fascinated by Norway, and longs to journey there.

Although we can’t actually send Phil to Norway on the show’s budget, we do the next best thing this week by bringing Norway (and Norwegian film) to Phil! Dean and Phil are honored to welcome Norwegian filmmaker Stig Svendsen (The Radio Pirates), who has just completed his first English-language film, Elevator, a U.S. suspense thriller in a Hitchcockian vein. Elevator has a truly outstanding cast, and Stig brings along to the Annex Gallery of the Eastern Columbia, one of his film’s stars, the the funny, stunning and whip smart Tehmina Sunny. Tehmina hails from the U.K. and has much in common with Dean Haglund! We won’t spoil those surprises as Phil loves remarking on Dean and Tehmina’s similarities during an incredibly entertaining hour …

About the show
Dean Haglund, the actor, improv comic and inventor (best known as “Langly,” one of the three computer-hacking geeks on “The X-Files” and their spin-off series “The Lone Gunmen”) engages in thought-provoking, insightful, and irreverent cultural conversation with his co-host and producing partner, independent filmmaker and certified violence prevention specialist Phil Leirness in the production offices of Rational Exuberance. Warning: Dean and Phil's usually hilarious and frequently inspiring discussions are habit-forming, so please, enjoy responsibly!
