Chillpak Hollywood Hour #545

This week’s show is quite unusual, even by our standards. Your friends in podcasting are both immersed in travel adventures. Dean is painting in Southeast Asia, Phil is showing The Lady Killers in the Pacific Northwest. So, this week’s episode is culled together from three different sources: Studio 10, the morning television show Dean frequently co-hosts in Sydney, Australia; The Hilarium Sydney, Dean’s pop-up comedy club that ran for the length of the The Sydney Fringe; an outdoor fire pit in Martinez, California, where Phil interviewed great friend to the show, esoteric researcher and author, magazine editor and publisher (and so much more) Olav Phillips. From comedy about being an American or Canadian transplant down under (as well as a routine about … recycling?) to spooky discussions about the mythological underpinnings of the SS and conspiracy theories being “encoded” into popular modern movies, this week’s installment of YOUR Chillpak Hollywood Hour is a fun, funny globe-trotting adventure.

Chillpak Hollywood Hour #293

Happy Christmas, everybody!

This week’s show gets off to a flying start with a recap of the “Live Event of the Week” – the 28 hour marathon co-hosted by your friends in podcasting to ring in the end of the Mayan Calendar.

Dean discusses his road trip from hell.

Phil discusses catching up on some 2012 movies.

Dean and Phil revisit last’s week’s show all about the Top Films of All Time by looking at what directors had films mentioned most often on the lists submitted by guests of YOUR Chillpak Hollywood Hour.

The show wraps up with a personal “Celebrity Death”, a wonderful character actor who was helping Dean and Phil in the development of their new film, The Lady Killers.

Speaking of The Lady Killers, please take the time to learn more about the film and how you can help (and PLEASE, spread the word!), by visiting here.

And if you’ve never seen Dean and Phil’s film The Truth is Out There . . . Why haven’t you? It’s available here.

Finally, we hope you will enjoy this holiday greeting from your friends in podcasting …

Chillpak Hollywood Hour #94

From directing live television in the sixties, to jumping out of airplanes and water-skiing in the MeKong Delta (while serving his country during the Vietnam War), from studying acting under the tutelage of the legendary Sanford Meisner (at the Neighborhood Playhouse), to becoming recognized the world over for his work on stage and screen, Tucker Smallwood has lived an extraordinary life and continues to live life extraordinarily.

Fans of Chillpak Hollywood Hour might recognize Tucker as “Kid Griffin” from The Cotton Club, “The Mission Director” in Contact, “Commander Ross” in Space: Above and Beyond, “the Xindi Primate” in Star Trek: Enterprise, “God” in The Sarah Silverman Program, and “Sheriff Andy Taylor” in “Home”, the most controversial episode of The X-Files.

Born to a father who served the U.S. as a diplomat and an educator, Tucker details some of his own service to country in the book Return to Eden. Commanding a Mobile Advisory Team, becoming severely wounded in action, recovering from his injuries, moving to New York and studying acting, establishing a career as a performer on Broadway, in film and on television, and continuing to explore the mysteries of existence (UFOs! Ghosts! Golf!) are some of the many topics Tucker explores in the book.

Dean and Phil welcome Tucker to the show this week. We can guarantee that you won’t want to miss it!

About the show
Dean Haglund, the actor, improv comic and inventor (best known as “Langly,” one of the three computer-hacking geeks on “The X-Files” and their spin-off series “The Lone Gunmen”) engages in thought-provoking, insightful, and irreverent cultural conversation with his co-host and producing partner, independent filmmaker and certified violence prevention specialist Phil Leirness in the production offices of Rational Exuberance. Warning: Dean and Phil's usually hilarious and frequently inspiring discussions are habit-forming, so please, enjoy responsibly!
