Chillpak Hollywood Hour #597

Hopefully you enjoyed last week’s bizarre audio walking tour of downtown Los Angeles with your friends in podcasting. On this week’s installment of YOUR Chillpak Hollywood Hour, Dean and Phil treat you to a sequel of sorts. It begins with a skyline view from outside the top floor of the city’s iconic city hall. then moves inside the presentation room, where several films get discussed, a brilliant character actor gets remembered, a rock ‘n roll lawsuit gets analyzed. All that plus a ton of laughs, a preview of Dean’s potential future enterprise in Detroit AND a major update on his long-awaited graphic novel!

Chillpak Hollywood Hour #370

Back when YOUR Chillpak Hollywood Hour was just getting started (as “From the Heart of Hollywood”), it’s quite likely that Erynn Petrulis was the youngest listener of the show, teen-ager, living in the UK, who had already acted on-stage with Dean Haglund (while he was touring the UK with his one-man “X-Files” improv).

Now, 7 years later, Erynn is a college graduate and a budding actress, having appeared in dozens of plays and short films. More important, she becomes the youngest guest yet on YOUR Chillpak Hollywood Hour.

So, join us poolside, high atop the historic core of downtown Los Angeles, as the delightful Miss Petrulis swaps stories with her two mentors, your friends in podcasting, Dean Haglund and Phil Leirness.

Chillpak Hollywood Hour #231

Dean Haglund is in Sydney, Australia. Phil Leirness is in Salem, Oregon.

So, how is it that this week’s show comes to you from both Los Angeles and Atlanta? Through the magic of podcasting, that’s how!

Along with some thoughts recorded in Los Angeles a few days ago, this week’s show features highlights from two panels your friends in podcasting recorded while at Dragon*Con (the largest fan run popular culture convention in the world) in Atlanta …

During Dean’s “Welcome Back, Dean Haglund!” panel (put on by X-Track), Dean answers questions and tells hilarious anecdotes about such topics as Area 51, his favorite episode of “The X-Files” and his television hosting gigs on both “Ghost Adventures Live” and YouToo TV. During Dean and Phil’s The Truth Is Out There post-screening panel, they answer questions from the audience about their film, and discuss our strength coming from our diversity and just what makes Dragon*Con so special.

This week, on YOUR Chillpak Hollywood Hour!

Chillpak Hollywood Hour #227

Dean and Phil are back from weeks of travel and they hit the ground running with one of the wildest, most free-wheeling installments of YOUR Chillpak Hollywood Hour ever!

How did your friends in podcasting enjoy Dragon*Con in Atlanta and a 9/11 commemorative event in Portland?

What did they think of the Emmy Awards?

What is their reaction to the latest round of “X-Files 3″ rumors?

Why are they both receiving emails from the CEO of Netflix?

What celebrity death are they remembering?

What celebrity do they think is facing career death?

What celebrity do they think is poised for a comeback?

Can they make sense of AMC’s behavior towards their award-winning and critically acclaimed series?

Can they make sense of the Rise of the Planet of the Apes marketing campaign?

Does Dean know the difference between Ida Lupino and Hedy Lamarr?

Why is Phil receiving both praise AND criticism from his response to Ryan Murphy’s behavior on an episode of “The Glee Project”?

Answers to all these and many more on this week’s episode.

And if you still haven’t had enough of your friends in podcasting, write us at chillpakhollywood@yahoo.com to request the Bonus 4th Anniversary Episode (which includes never-before-heard material).

Chillpak Hollywood Hour #223

Forgive us for another delay, but your friend in podcasting, Dean Haglund is working CRAAZY hours shooting his hosting segments for “The X-Files” forthcoming syndication run on YouToo, a brand new cable network. Dean describes more of what he’s been shooting, and what kind of interactive technologies this network plans on utilizing on-air. And since talk of “The X-Files” is in the air, it’s only fitting that Dean and Phil discuss the brand new show Frank Spotnitz has sold to Cinemax and that show’s origins. What will be of particular interest to X-philes is the discussion Dean and Frank had in London about the possibility of an X-Files 3 and the real reason it hasn’t happened already (and no, Fox is NOT to blame).

Of course, even if you’ve never seen an episode of “The X-Files”, there will be plenty to love about this week’s installment of YOUR Chillpak Hollyood Hour, including discussions of a new Alien, a new Blade Runner and a new …The Wild Bunch?!?

Phil sings the praises of three actresses who have really come into their own as movie stars and whose extraordinary talents are on display at American multiplexes right now.

As podcast royalty, it is the responsibility of Dean and Phil to remember the Queen of Hollywood and a former First Lady, both of whom died this past week.

Finally, amidst all the stories of marketing madness and bizarre celebrity behavior, Dean and Phil find time to plot a way of attracting a brand new sponsor for show, looking to “The Jersey Shore”‘s The Situation for inspiration!

Chillpak Hollywood Hour #121

One of the all-time classics has returned. This episode has become known as “Live at Dragon*Con”. Here is the original description when the show was first published on 6 September 2009 …

Dean and Phil podcast LIVE from DragonCon, the world’s largest fantasy/SF convention, held annually in Atlanta, GA, on Labor Day weekend. And when we say “live”, we mean, in front of an audience that participates with a whole bunch of entertaining and thought-provoking questions. Dean holds forth on “The Lone Gunmen” and all manner of conspiracy theories (from the assassination of JFK to the real reasons behind the invasion of Iraq). This just might be our best show ever! And at the very least, you won’t think of Las Vegas, NASA or wrong numbers by sweet-sounding old ladies the same way ever again! Are cookies controlling Dean’s mind? Does the crowd turn on Phil? Find out in this DragonCon installment of YOUR Chillpak Hollywood Hour!

Chillpak Hollywood Hour #116

Dean and Phil just got back from Oakland, where Dean was performing his live improv comedy show and Phil was conducting test shoots for their recently announced documentary The Truth is Out There

On this week’s show, they’ll talk about this trip as well as the trips they have planned to such destinations as Chicago, Atlanta, Berlin, Oslo, Cocoa Beach (Florida) and various parts of Canada. Chillpak Hollywood Hour may very well be coming to your city or town!

On a future show, Dean and Phil plan on interviewing Vince Gilligan, creator of the hit series “Breaking Bad.” On this week’s show, they discuss the Emmy nominations received by Vince’s program and by all your favorites. They also discuss the omission of “True Blood” from the nominations. TV fans won’t want to miss it.

Sci-fi and horror fans won’t want to miss this week’s show, either, as Dean weighs in on the state of the union in the horror genre and Phil does the same for sci-fi films.

And because he’s a town crier, Phil gets on his soapbox about dolphins and suggests a Website created by one of our loyal listeners that you may just want to visit.

It’s all this week on YOUR Chillpak Hollywood Hour …
