Chillpak Hollywood Hour #542

Everyone loves a good sequel, right? This week is part 2 of a theme show where Dean and Phil examine the British Film Institute list of “The 50 Films you should see by the age of 14.” The list was created in 2005 to inspire parents and educators to take movies as seriously as other forms of art and included the opinions of more than 70 experts including film producers, teachers, authors and critics. Of course, YOUR Chillpak Hollywood Hour was not around back then, so the BFI had to make do without input from your friends in podcasting. Until now. There are times Dean and Phil strongly agree with the list, other times they realize they have holes in their own cinematic educations, and times when they disagree with the list and/or note its particular European and British slant on the subject. All in all, a fascinating discussion of the art form, of education, of parenting and more. Part 2 picks up where Part 1 left off – 1971 (and Nicolas Roeg’s Walkabout) – and goes through the final entry, 2003′s Finding Nemo.

Chillpak Hollywood Hour #228

Life as an actor on stage and screen is the topic on today’s installment of YOUR Chillpak Hollywood Hour, featuring special guest Lily Holleman.

Lily can be seen in theatres (and V.O.D. and iTunes starting October 1) in @urFRENZ, giving a performance that Variety called “iconic”.

Next month, she will appear on-stage at the 1,000 seat South Coast Rep in Southern California in a revival of the legendary Horton Foote’s The Trip to Bountiful (in the role created by Eva Marie Saint).

Soon, she will be heard in the cartoon series Captain Daddy, singing the theme song and lending her voice talents to a cast that includes Ed Asner, Fred Willard and Traci Lords.

Other Lily Holleman roles include a starring role the Lifetime movie Queen Sized, a recurring role on both the drama series “Southland” and the Showtime series “Tracey Ullman’s State of the Union”, and a guest-starring role on the Disney favorite “Sonny with a Chance”.

If you love name-dropping, and if you’ve been longing for a surprise visit from Christopher Walken and political strategist James Carville to YOUR Chillpak Hollywood Hour, then this episode is a MUST listen!
