This week’s installment of YOUR Chillpak Hollywood Hour begins with a special audio montage. After two weeks of “theme” episodes, your friends in podcasting would love to discuss TV and Movie news and reviews, however the bulk of this week’s show is spent celebrating the lives of such luminaries as Zsa Zsa Gabor, Richard Adams, George S. Irving, Carrie Fisher, Debbie Reynolds and George Michael. Then, with what time is left, Dean and Phil reveal how they spent their respective New Years.
A giant of global cinema is remembered in “Celebrity Deaths.” A seance is described in “Live Events of the Week.” Dean weighs in on binary thought and the latest eruption of gun violence in the USA. He also updates us on his Sydney comedy club. Phil discusses his new-found love of the Mississippi Delta in “What We’re Reading.” All that plus more than a half dozen films are discussed in depth. YOUR Chillpak Hollywood Hour. Enjoy!
It’s independence day in the USA and, though by no mean’s a theme show, this week’s show touches on many issues pertaining to American history …
… It all starts with Dean telling a story about North Bend, Washington (i.e. the town of “Twin Peaks”). Then, there is a touching letter from a loyal listener like you (yes, YOU). and the show continues with remembrances of a Nobel Laureate, a groundbreaking coach and two noted film directors in “Celebrity Deaths”, before seguing into great acting and directing tips (courtesy of Peter Falk) in “What We’re Reading”. Then, talk of Dean’s new comedy venue leads into a discussion of #Brexit, the appeal (to some) of Donald Trump, the retirement of Garrison Keillor and many themes are explored, from the opportunities that arise in times of chaos to the ways these American states really ARE “united” … All in all, it’s a globe-trotting adventure of good conversation on this week’s show, and THEN, your friends in podcasting leave the confines of Terra Firma and explore the possibility (likelihood) of alien civilizations and the importance of Jupiter to our existence!
Phil is still on the road, so much like last week, there is only going to be a brief conversation between he and Dean at the top of this week’s show, before an interview Phil conducted with a special guest, a guest who serves as a perfect follow-up to the interview Dean conducted on last week’s show!

Folklore, mythology, history, conspiracy and a ton of laughs on this week’s installment of YOUR Chillpak Hollywood Hour.
Right before exploring the Bandera Volcano and Ice Cave in North Western New Mexico, Phil Leirness touches base with Dean Haglund (who’s down under, of course), before Dean welcomes a special guest, Steven-Elliot Altman. Steven-Elliot is an author, graphic novelist, producer, screenwriter and video game writer-director whose latest game is based on the television series Ancient Aliens.
Aliens, UFOs, Sherlock Holmes, sci-fi novels and more on this week’s brand new episode of YOUR Chillpak Hollywood Hour!
X (as in the roman numeral for “10″) marks the spot as your friends in podcasting launch year ten of YOUR Chillpak Hollywood Hour! And boy is there a ton of show business news, views and reviews to cover! The show gets started with the description of a live comedy show and a trip in a time machine, through Hollywood history, as part of the “Live Event of the Week”. Then, after discussing what they’re reading, Dean and Phil tackle the way President Obama may have changed how you will view entertainment at home, a new streaming service from the Criterion Collection, and all the news pertaining to The Marvel and D.C. Cinematic Universes, plus casting news pertaining to the new Han Solo plus television projects for Kurt Russell, Mel Gibson and Alec Baldwin. All that, plus dream interpretation, news that the forthcoming “Blade Runner” sequel is an Oscar hopeful, the best of current television and a severe wag of the finger directed at the Fox Corporation for failing to have even ONE female-directed film on their release slate for the next TWO years!
After weeks of special “theme” shows, shows with guests and shows that looked backwards, your friends in podcasting return to the wild grab bag of show business, trying to make sense of a world gone wild and trying, in some cases, to predict the future! Dean and Phil received a disturbing email from a listener. Phil had the curious experience of seeing his girlfriend from film school become the top trending news topic on Facebook. Dean is gearing up for his performances at the Melbourne International Film Festival. Dean and Phil weigh in on “The X-Files” revival (especially the episode “Babylon”). And speaking of revivals, Dean and Phil tackle the news of the “Star Trek” and “Thunderbirds” revivals and Phil predicts a future “Lawsuit of the Week”. Phil asks Dean more about “Other Space” and the new JJ Abrams series on Hulu starring James Franco (from the mind of Stephen King). Of course, the Oscars are fast approaching and Dean and Phil cover the latest on the #oscarsowhite controversy, and Phil tells two great stories about the “Best Director” award, one involving an infamous “snub”, the other involving one of this year’s nominees. Finally, this extra-long installment concludes as two legendary authors are remembered in “Celebrity Deaths”.
In this week’s fascinating, thought-provoking installment, your friends in podcasting get passionate about comedy, live theatre, books, the need for empathy, The Paris Attacks, the lack of opportunity for women in media and more.
We think it’s Dean and Phil at their absolute best – irreverent, insightful, inspirational.
YOUR Chillpak Hollywood Hour. Enjoy!
