Chillpak Hollywood Hour #534

If what we read is true, your friends in podcasting are on a roll, and the quality conversation continues this week as Dean and Phil convene via Skype to share news of Dean’s new “pop-up” comedy club and upcoming displays of his art work, and to dissect two strange conversations Phil witnessed this past week (one in which he was a perplexed participant). A quite touching email from a listener like you (yes, YOU) is read, and that leads into a rather fascinating discussion about Christopher Nolan’s latest opus, Dunkirk, a new directorial effort from the writer of both Hell or High Water and Sicario (two of the best movies of this decade), Wind River. Many other movies will get discussed, including one starring the late Martin Landau and the classic by François Truffaut, The 400 Blows. This begins what will be an ongoing analysis of the list of the 50 films everyone should see before they are 14 years of age!

A week after remembering a character actor and a legendary voice performer in “Celebrity Deaths”, your friends in podcasting celebrate the lives (and mourn the deaths of) a Tony-Winning and Oscar-nominated playwright-actor, a sketch comic turned voice performer, a cast member of several Harry Potter movies, and an award-winning theatre actress. All that, PLUS your usual weekly dose of insight, irreverence and inspiration on YOUR Chillpak Hollywood Hour. Spread the word!

Chillpak Hollywood Hour #250

This week’s show is both a yearly tradition AND a Chillpak Hollywood Hour first!

It’s our post-Oscar smackdown, where your friends in podcasting take on the Academy AND each other. Snarking and wagering, what could be more fun? And this year, the stakes have been raised!

Meanwhile, it’s the first time we’ve ever recorded a show where Dean and Phil were not in same locale. Dean’s still in Colorado. Yet, thanks to Skype, nothing could prevent the motion picture industry’s big night from turning into YOUR Chillpak Hollywood Hour’s 250th episode!

Chillpak Hollywood Hour #228

Life as an actor on stage and screen is the topic on today’s installment of YOUR Chillpak Hollywood Hour, featuring special guest Lily Holleman.

Lily can be seen in theatres (and V.O.D. and iTunes starting October 1) in @urFRENZ, giving a performance that Variety called “iconic”.

Next month, she will appear on-stage at the 1,000 seat South Coast Rep in Southern California in a revival of the legendary Horton Foote’s The Trip to Bountiful (in the role created by Eva Marie Saint).

Soon, she will be heard in the cartoon series Captain Daddy, singing the theme song and lending her voice talents to a cast that includes Ed Asner, Fred Willard and Traci Lords.

Other Lily Holleman roles include a starring role the Lifetime movie Queen Sized, a recurring role on both the drama series “Southland” and the Showtime series “Tracey Ullman’s State of the Union”, and a guest-starring role on the Disney favorite “Sonny with a Chance”.

If you love name-dropping, and if you’ve been longing for a surprise visit from Christopher Walken and political strategist James Carville to YOUR Chillpak Hollywood Hour, then this episode is a MUST listen!

Oh, and if you’re intrigued by this show’s discussion of ET Sculptures, be sure to visit artist Cynthia Crawford’s website.
