Chillpak Hollywood Hour #472

Phil is still on the road, so much like last week, there is only going to be a brief conversation between he and Dean at the top of this week’s show, before an interview Phil conducted with a special guest, a guest who serves as a perfect follow-up to the interview Dean conducted on last week’s show!

Charles A. Coulombe is a respected and sought-after commentator on culture, religion, history, and politics. A specialist in the history and government of the Catholic Church, Coulombe’s influence and expertise extend far beyond matters religious. He has written on topics ranging from the history of rum to haunted houses to a history of the United States.

Folklore, mythology, history, conspiracy and a ton of laughs on this week’s installment of YOUR Chillpak Hollywood Hour.

Chillpak Hollywood Hour #316

Chris Bonno is an accomplished actor, comic and artist.

He has been friends with Dean Haglund for a long time, he’s been a good friend to YOUR Chillpak Hollywood Hour and he’s finally a guest, joining Dean and Phil for one of their funniest episodes EVER.

This installment also marks the introduction of the mysterious Dr. Castoreum

Learn all about Chris at his official site and check out his amazing art work at Shea Magazine.

And now, let the hilarity begin!

Chillpak Hollywood Hour #210

According to Harold Camping, Saturday 21 May was Judgment Day, so all of us who are still here must be damned! Which only seems appropriate as your friends in podcasting, Dean Haglund and Phil Leirness had one HELL of a good time at the US premiere of their film The Truth Is Out There at The Retro Dome in San Jose. After the screening was completed, Dean and Phil took the stage for this LIVE installment of YOUR Chillpak Hollywood Hour … Hilarity, special guests, audience questions, Phil’s tears … It’s the end of the world as we know it!

Chillpak Hollywood Hour #94

From directing live television in the sixties, to jumping out of airplanes and water-skiing in the MeKong Delta (while serving his country during the Vietnam War), from studying acting under the tutelage of the legendary Sanford Meisner (at the Neighborhood Playhouse), to becoming recognized the world over for his work on stage and screen, Tucker Smallwood has lived an extraordinary life and continues to live life extraordinarily.

Fans of Chillpak Hollywood Hour might recognize Tucker as “Kid Griffin” from The Cotton Club, “The Mission Director” in Contact, “Commander Ross” in Space: Above and Beyond, “the Xindi Primate” in Star Trek: Enterprise, “God” in The Sarah Silverman Program, and “Sheriff Andy Taylor” in “Home”, the most controversial episode of The X-Files.

Born to a father who served the U.S. as a diplomat and an educator, Tucker details some of his own service to country in the book Return to Eden. Commanding a Mobile Advisory Team, becoming severely wounded in action, recovering from his injuries, moving to New York and studying acting, establishing a career as a performer on Broadway, in film and on television, and continuing to explore the mysteries of existence (UFOs! Ghosts! Golf!) are some of the many topics Tucker explores in the book.

Dean and Phil welcome Tucker to the show this week. We can guarantee that you won’t want to miss it!

Chillpak Hollywood Hour #82

Dean is back from the Queen Mary where he performed his live comedy show for a convention of “ghost hunters” exploring the famous, floating, haunted hotel. He shares all the spooky goings on. Then things get REALLY scary, as Dean and Phil discuss breaking news involving Jay Leno, and Phil gives “equal time” to the argument AGAINST authorizing a Screen Actors Guild strike. Finally, Dean and Phil will finish what they started last week, previewing all the films to be released before the end of the year. Ghosts, labor strife and movies – What more could you want from a free hour of audio-only internet entertainment?

Chillpak Hollywood Hour #43

This week, Dean and Phil discuss Robert Downey Jr’s gravitas. Phil says “gravitas”. Over and over. Plus more trailer talk. Let’s call it “trailer trash”. Dean brings us up to date on his recent stint on the Queen Mary, plus Dean’s home address and Phil’s blood pressure may be revealed. Phil, who previously represented “a crisis in cinema”, gets his first positive hometown review…or does he? Don’t worry Phil, everybody hates on the hometown boy when they leave!

Chillpak Hollywood Hour #41

Oscar buzz a plenty! Dean and Phil discuss their post-Oscar show (next Monday – don’t miss it!). Phil is slowly getting caught up on watching all the nominated movies, and Dean is getting ready to go back to the Queen Mary in Long Beach (it’s haunted – just like our studio was yesterday).

Engineer’s note : something was fishy and the audio isn’t quite up to par – Apologies.

Chillpak Hollywood Hour #29

Hey, we’re back, we’re late , that’s how it goes here sometimes. Today, Dean tells tales of ghost hunting on the Queen Mary (spooky), gives us the 411 on his benefit performances, and Phil and Dean ponder whether Dean’s old TV crew, The Lone Gunmen, could be brought back. Enjoy!

About the show
Dean Haglund, the actor, improv comic and inventor (best known as “Langly,” one of the three computer-hacking geeks on “The X-Files” and their spin-off series “The Lone Gunmen”) engages in thought-provoking, insightful, and irreverent cultural conversation with his co-host and producing partner, independent filmmaker and certified violence prevention specialist Phil Leirness in the production offices of Rational Exuberance.
