After two weeks of special “theme” shows, your friends in podcasting are back and they bring an over-stuffed grab-bag of topics to delve into on this week’s episode … There is big news for Dean and Phil’s new movie, The Lady Killers. Phil has a brand new monthly show all about The Los Angeles Breakfast Club. Dean will be appearing alongside the other members of The Lone Gunmen in Texas in May. Dean will be having an art show in Los Angeles in July. All that gets discussed. There is an email from a loyal listener like you (yes, you) about science fiction novels and what Dean and Phil are reading. A beloved actor, a groundbreaking actress, a best-selling novelist and a film historian are all remembered in “Celebrity Deaths”. Finally, two weeks after the fact, your friends in podcasting weigh in on the Oscars, with detailed thoughts concerning host Jimmy Kimmel, the show’s ratings, the disastrous “In Memorium” tribute and oh, yeah, that little drama surrounding the Best Picture Award. All that plus such recent cinematic releases Get Out and Logan get reviewed.
Dean Haglund has a little too much reverb. Phil Leirness has had a little too much to drink. Together it all works to bring you a hilarious and informative installment of YOUR Chillpak Hollywood Hour.

If you have only recently joined the internet madness that is YOUR Chillpak Hollywood Hour, you might not recognize the name “David Sobolov”. You will almost certainly recognize the VOICE, however. David Sobolov is one of the most recognizable, most sought-after, and dare we say, most TALENTED voice actors in the business. He also becomes the FIRST EVER 3-time Chillpak Hollywood Hour guest!
On CHH #30 & CHH #48, David came on board to share his insights and expertise as a politically active working actor, to discuss the politics of show business in general and the specifics of the negotiations between the actors unions and producers and the in-fighting within and between the two different actors’ unions. This week, Dean and Phil finally bring back David to share his stories and insights into the business and craft of voice-acting, to share his unique and uniquely inspiring and informative path into and through show business.
Great story-telling and a great guest this week on YOUR Chillpak Hollywood Hour. And if you haven’t seen it, be sure to check out Phil’s guest appearance on the ActotrsE Chat Show!
It’s an exciting time in the film business. The Award season is fast-approaching and critics are revealing their Top Ten Films of the year AND their Best of the Decade! So, Dean and Phil, who often talk about film critics and movie reviews, thought it was the perfect time to welcome an important critic onto the show. Luke Y. Thompson is an actor and a writer, a cultural observer, a contributor to Nikki Finke’s Deadline Hollywood, and a film critic for E! Online as well as film critic for such print sources as the L.A. Weekly. Some of the topics he discusses with your friends in podcasting are the purpose of film critics, the future of film criticism, the best (and worst) films of the decade, why the horror genre is so maligned/misunderstood, and what films that have come out this year really deserve your attention AND need your help. You can learn more about LYT (and read his writing) at www.lytrules.com, but first, enjoy an hour of truly spirited, irreverent conversation on YOUR Chillpak Hollywood Hour!
Dean and Phil just got back from Oakland, where Dean was performing his live improv comedy show and Phil was conducting test shoots for their recently announced documentary The Truth is Out There …
On this week’s show, they’ll talk about this trip as well as the trips they have planned to such destinations as Chicago, Atlanta, Berlin, Oslo, Cocoa Beach (Florida) and various parts of Canada. Chillpak Hollywood Hour may very well be coming to your city or town!
On a future show, Dean and Phil plan on interviewing Vince Gilligan, creator of the hit series “Breaking Bad.” On this week’s show, they discuss the Emmy nominations received by Vince’s program and by all your favorites. They also discuss the omission of “True Blood” from the nominations. TV fans won’t want to miss it.
Sci-fi and horror fans won’t want to miss this week’s show, either, as Dean weighs in on the state of the union in the horror genre and Phil does the same for sci-fi films.
And because he’s a town crier, Phil gets on his soapbox about dolphins and suggests a Website created by one of our loyal listeners that you may just want to visit.
It’s all this week on YOUR Chillpak Hollywood Hour …
