Chillpak Hollywood Hour #490

How do your friends in podcasting follow up on one of their best episodes ever? Well, they start by playing a hilarious voicemail message left by listener Jon Lawlor in the wake of the “Harry Potter” discussion he prompted. Then, they celebrate 67 years of broadcasting excellence by Vin Scully. Then, they engage in perhaps the funniest “celebrity death” they’ve ever covered, remembering the “worst boss in the world”. Dean’s latest comedy shows, Phil’s hosting of An LABC Home Companion, and a Cindy Sherman exhibit are all discussed in “Live Events of the Week” as is the pilgrimage Phil made to Walt Disney’s grave to commemorate the 45th anniversary of the opening of Walt Disney World. Dean answers a question from a listener like you (yes, YOU) about how to prevent air travel from wrecking you physically. Finally, Dean and Phil compare notes on several films, including one of the most overlooked comedies of the 1930′s, a Japanese horror film from the 1960′s that was the most expensive Japanese film ever made at the time, and a charming independent comedy from Ireland that boasted Gene Wilder’s first lead role in a movie. Enjoy brand new episode 490 of YOUR Chillpak Hollywood Hour!

Chillpak Hollywood Hour #422

We are jumping into the “way back machine” for this week’s show, re-visiting a time many of you will be too young to remember … May of 2015! It was a more innocent time. We were all younger then. And we relished in our youth. It was also when your friends in podcasting sat down for an hilarious hour of conversation with Travis Clark. And they recorded it.

Travis is a writer, actor, musician and comedian. He wrote for that show you never watched, appeared in productions you didn’t know he was in, played in that band that never went anywhere and has performed in at least one place where a stabbing occurred while he was on stage. He’s also a deeply flawed character with a weak back story. He’s also the co-host of the hilarious podcast Tiny Odd Conversations. Your friends in podcasting have been trying to schedule him for some time and we’re thrilled that he was finally able to drop by to regale us with stories of corporate life, stand-up comedy and all the creatures in Australia that might be trying to kill Dean Haglund!

Chillpak Hollywood Hour #129

Take a road trip with Dean and Phil as they drive to sunny Malibu to conduct an interview for their documentary The Truth Is Out There. Dean has just returned from the Trans-Allegheny Lunatic Asylum in Weston, West Virginia where he hosted a Live Ghost Adventures special for the Travel Channel. He reveals much about the pressure of hosting this show, of the behind-the-scenes turmoil and he critiques the very Ghost Adventures approach to paranormal investigation. Dean also looks forward to his work this week shooting a guest-starring role on Bones. Speaking of bones, sucking dead bones dry seems to be a rampant and recurring theme in popular culture, from the Michael Jackson documentary This Is It topping the box office charts, to a spate of sequels and remakes dominating the production reports. Dean and Phil weigh in on the prevailing corporate and social paradigm of risk management, and what that means for creative expression, as well as what it means to lead with your strengths. Oh and Phil concocts a conspiracy theory relating to the Spanish Flu epidemic of 1918. As always, an irreverent, insightful and inspiring hour of YOUR Chillpak Hollywood Hour. Buckle up, it’s going to be a bumpy ride along the pot-hole-ridden freeways of Southern California, but if you behave yourselves, we may just hit a drive thru!

Chillpak Hollywood Hour #222

What do “Star Trek” and “The X-Files” have in common this week? Dean Haglund! He just got back from performing at the big TREK convention in Las Vegas and he shares stories of the event. And as soon as he got back to Los Angeles, it was time to report to the set this week for a television series called “The X-Files”! WHAT?!? Dean gives details.

And if all that wasn’t enough, Dean appeared on “Coast to Coast AM” this week and he shares his thoughts about that appearance.

Of course, Dean’s co-host, your friend in podcasting, Phil Leirness, has much to share as well … He holds court on a variety of topics, including a stage show about Sherlock Holmes’ sidekick “Watson”, the reality competition show “The Glee Project”, the blockbuster film Rise of the Planet of the Apes, and the classic of 1930′s cinema, The Women.

All that, plus discussions of Kickstarter, the UK riots, the US economic meltdown … And you won’t want to miss Phil’s report about the Beverly Hills Police Department.

It’s YOUR Chillpak Hollywood Hour … With a vengeance!
