Chillpak Hollywood Hour #604

In the second of two face-to-face episodes recorded this past week while Dean was in Los Angeles, your friends in podcasting discuss two “Celebrity Deaths” and three current cinematic releases. The creator of “SpongeBob SquarePants” and the woman who co-wrote “American Graffiti” and who gave Princess Leia her fighting, courageous spirit are the celebrities remembered by Dean and Phil. The documentary “They’ll Love Me When I’m Dead” (about Orson Welles’ 15 year-long effort to make the unparalleled “The Other Side of the Wind”), the heist thriller “Widows” from director Steve McQueen (“Shame”, “12 Years a Slave”) and “If Beale Street Could Talk” from director Barry Jenkins (“Moonlight”) are the movies Dean and Phil go into great depth discussing. on YOUR Chillpak Hollywood Hour.

Chillpak Hollywood Hour #507

Listeners new to the show might be surprised to learn that there was a time when Dean Haglund and Phil Leirness might go weeks without needing to discuss “celebrity deaths.” Clearly, those days are long gone. Unfortunately (or fortunately, depending on your perspective), beyond a cursory tribute, your friends in podcasting will have to wait at least a week to celebrate the lives of Mary Tyler Moore, Mike Connors, Gorden Kaye and John Hurt (are we forgetting anybody? No? Don’t worry, by next week, there will no doubt be more!). THIS WEEK, Dean and Phil will celebrate the best in movies for the year that was as they count down their Top Ten Best Films of 2016.

About the show
Dean Haglund, the actor, improv comic and inventor (best known as “Langly,” one of the three computer-hacking geeks on “The X-Files” and their spin-off series “The Lone Gunmen”) engages in thought-provoking, insightful, and irreverent cultural conversation with his co-host and producing partner, independent filmmaker and certified violence prevention specialist Phil Leirness in the production offices of Rational Exuberance. Warning: Dean and Phil's usually hilarious and frequently inspiring discussions are habit-forming, so please, enjoy responsibly!
