Chillpak Hollywood Hour #320

Happy Canada Day!

Phil Leirness is back with health advice for the young people and with corrections for Dean Haglund after listening to last week’s show …

Nothing less than an action-packed thrill ride, this week’s installment of YOUR Chillpak Hollywood Hour features your friends in podcasting discussing more than a dozen movies, the Supreme Court’s recent rulings on DOMA and Proposition 8, the Jim Carrey Kick-Ass 2 controversy, Paula Deen’s racism vs. Alec Baldwin’s homophobia, and fairy tales!

Chillpak Hollywood Hour #287

Who doesn’t enjoy a love story?

That’s the question on the minds of your friends in podcasting as this week as they welcome their special guest, Allan Piper.

Allan is an editor who has contributed to such shows as “What Not to Wear”, “Guide to Style”, “Wife Swap” and “American Treasures”.

He is a filmmaker who is currently touring with his latest feature film, a documentary called Married and Counting, that follows two men who celebrate 25 years together by traveling the country to get married in every state where they can.

Allan is also active politically and had “given up” the past year of his life to be part of the video production team for the Obama campaign.

Finally, Allan is a true gentleman and his appearance on the show is long overdue.

Filmmaking, marriage, politics … And yes, love stories … This week, on YOUR Chillpak Hollywood Hour.

Chillpak Hollywood Hour #248

“From a secret location somewhere in America” your friends in podcasting, Dean Haglund and Phil Leirness are attending a very unique event. Pull up a chair and sit beside them in Exhibitor Booth 404 at the LAX Hilton as they discuss stop-motion animation, Clint Eastwood, California’s Proposition 8, SOPA, stop-motion animation, Whitney Houston, community theater, The Great Gatsby, Tom Cruise, Mel Gibson, Kevin Costner, a record-setting box-office weekend, a lawsuit between Marvel comics and their artists, and the worst reception Dean and Phil have ever attended. A “freight train of fun”, it’s YOUR Chillpak Hollywood Hour!

Chillpak Hollywood Hour #170

Phil Leirness is playing hurt. That’s why this show is coming at you one day late. Migraine hell can only keep him down for so long, however, and he joins his partner in podcasting, Dean Haglund, for another freewheeling hour of internet entertainment adventure. This week: The Las Vegas “Star Trek” convention, Claudia Christian, Stieg Larsson’s “Millennium” trilogy, the arrest and incarceration of one of the experts in Dean and Phil’s The Truth Is Out There, the death of Alaska Senator Ted Stevens (and an ex-NASA chief), Salt, Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World, Animal Kingdom, Broken Embraces, Get Low, California’s Proposition 8, Phil’s fondness for television shows about fashion, plus questions from listeners.

All that, and more, on YOUR Chillpak Hollywood Hour!

Chillpak Hollywood Hour #86

Phil just got back from rubbing elbows with the D.C. social set. Dean stayed in town and hit a Hollywood party and hit it hard based on the stories he shares (Fran Drescher? Poop? Three bottles of champagne?). In addition to comparing notes on their holiday hijinx, Dean and Phil discuss the many films they’ve seen during the past two weeks. Phil saw several foreign language films, including a couple of fantastic ones you won’t want to miss. Dean reveals he saw The Spirit. This makes Phil very angry. Truth be told, though, from the Screen Actors Guild to Proposition 8, from people not knowing history to Dean’s viewing habits, Phil really comes out swinging … The boys are back and 2009 can finally begin!

About the show
Dean Haglund, the actor, improv comic and inventor (best known as “Langly,” one of the three computer-hacking geeks on “The X-Files” and their spin-off series “The Lone Gunmen”) engages in thought-provoking, insightful, and irreverent cultural conversation with his co-host and producing partner, independent filmmaker and certified violence prevention specialist Phil Leirness in the production offices of Rational Exuberance. Warning: Dean and Phil's usually hilarious and frequently inspiring discussions are habit-forming, so please, enjoy responsibly!
