Chillpak Hollywood Hour #572

A show eleven years in the making! As longtime listeners of the show know, Dean and Phil used to begin each calendar year with a “New Year’s Resolutions” show, where they set their intentions for the year ahead, while looking back and holding their feet to the fire about the resolutions they had made one year prior. For a variety of reasons they will discuss, your friends in podcasting discontinued that tradition this year … This week marks 11 years of YOUR Chillpak Hollywood Hour and Dean and Phil will commemorate the special event by looking back at their resolutions to start 2017 and seeing how well they lived up to them! It will be a very thoughtful, heartfelt, and we bet, inspiring hour all about art, comedy, friendship, aging, and love. Plus you get to hear, at long last, Phil’s thoughts on Star Wars: The Last Jedi AND you will learn just when a certain graphic novel might be finished!

Chillpak Hollywood Hour #467

Next week, your friends in podcasting, Dean Haglund and Phil Leirness, celebrate nine years of changing the way you listen to the internet and we will be commemorating this milestone with a special episode that might just prove a great starting point for those who have never listened before, but who might enjoy joining the Chillpak Nation!

This week, however, is definitely one only for the faithful as its sometimes shoddy audio quality might scare away the uninitiated, to say nothing of the bizarre songs and rituals! Think we’re joking? Dean was in Los Angeles for 24 hours this week, to attend The Los Angeles Breakfast Club and launch his new book “Dean Haglund: An Illustrated Tour of Broadway in DTLA”. Most of this week’s show will be highlights from that event. Trust us, there’s plenty of laughs along the way. There’s also a special opening about Doris Roberts, Prince and the 1980′s.

Our last show before completing nine years of free, weekly podcast entertainment is unlike any episode we’ve done before. What show can say that after 466 installments? YOUR Chillpak Hollywood Hour, of course!

Chillpak Hollywood Hour #364

With special music, clips from previous shows, previews of two “Live Events of the Week”, memories of 3 “Celebrity Deaths”, a whole bunch of emails, tweets and texts from loyal listeners and two very special announcements, what could this possibly be but the 7th anniversary episode of YOUR Chillpak Hollywood Hour!

So, put on those party hats, break out those noise-makers and celebrate seven years of Dean Haglund and Phil Leirness changing the way people listen to the internet!

Chillpak Hollywood Hour #336

The fall television season is in full swing and it’s time to declare winners and losers, so your friends in podcasting have it covered, the shows that are hits and those that are about to be canceled (if they haven’t been already!). They also talk about the Univision remake of “Breaking Bad” and how impressed Sir Anthony Hopkins is with Bryan Cranston’s work in the original.

Speaking of television, Dean and Phil will examine the possibility of a future incarnation on the big/small screens of “The X-Files” as well as the currently underway reboot of “Remington Steele”.

Fall also means we’re approaching the awards season here in Hollywood, a time when the movie industry puts its best product into the marketplace. A Vanity Fair piece described 2013 as possibly the best year in movies since 1939. Dean Haglund and Phil Leirness will discuss this assertion and examine the merits of a handful of new (or future) releases.

Plus, Dean and Phil will discuss the way AMC theatres might just be changing the way you feel about going to the movies.

Finally, your friends in podcasting explain one of the eight ways your brain lies to you every day!

All that, and much more, on this week’s installment of YOUR Chillpak Hollywood Hour.

Chillpak Hollywood Hour #56

Dean and Phil countdown their Top 10 favorite television programs of all time. Gee guys, I didn’t realize you were both such big fans of “Small Wonder!”

Chillpak Hollywood Hour #21

Is Phil the love child of Patrick McGoohan and Remington Steele? Is Dean the love child of Kirk Douglas and Glenn Close? Probably, but that’s only the tip of the iceberg this week. Dean talks about the Podcast and New Media Expo in Ontario (California, not Canada). Some new releases are debated. Then Phil makes a shocking revelation about this crazy town. It’s a stinking pool of what? What’s that Phil? No, it can’t be true!

About the show
Dean Haglund, the actor, improv comic and inventor (best known as “Langly,” one of the three computer-hacking geeks on “The X-Files” and their spin-off series “The Lone Gunmen”) engages in thought-provoking, insightful, and irreverent cultural conversation with his co-host and producing partner, independent filmmaker and certified violence prevention specialist Phil Leirness in the production offices of Rational Exuberance. Warning: Dean and Phil's usually hilarious and frequently inspiring discussions are habit-forming, so please, enjoy responsibly!
