Chillpak Hollywood Hour #559
Dean is having surgery this week and Phil’s cat, Fuzz Aldrin, continues her brave recovery. Because some of you asked for updates on these matters, your friends in podcasting begin this week’s epic installment with fascinating and inspiring stories pertaining to them. Then, it’s all about movies …
The critics groups have all awarded their favorites. The professional guilds and unions have honored theirs. The Academy Award nominations were announced, which your Dean and Phil analyze a bit on the show. For the most part, however, this week it’s Dean and Phil’s turn. Keep those Netflix queues handy as the gents count down their Top Ten Films of 2017. And, of course, far more than 20 films will get discussed in what is an extra-long installment of YOUR Chillpak Hollywood Hour, one that truly stretches the definition of “hour”! Trust us, they go off the beaten path for their choices this year in an effort to champion some films that were sadly overlooked or under-marketed. Discover cinematic gems and regale in hilarious, irreverent, and occasionally insightful bickering.
Chillpak Hollywood Hour #543
Full disclosure: This week’s episode of YOUR Chillpak Hollywood Hour is an absolute epic, recorded LAST weekend. So, you won’t hear Dean and Phil weighing in on the Las Vegas tragedy, on the death of Tom Petty, nor on any other events of the week. Instead, your friends in podcasting fill the show’s 80 minute running time by discussing the conclusion of Dean’s month-long pop-up comedy venue in Sydney, a terrific close-up magic show in Downtown Los Angeles, the recent spate of protests by NFL players, the cancer diagnosis of Julia Louis-Dreyfuss, the sexual assault allegations against film critic Harry Knowles, several new and recent movie releases (including “It”, “Victoria & Abdul” and “The Florida Project”). That would be, and was, enough for one whole hour … AND THEN, Dean and Phil celebrate the lives of a record number of persons in “Celebrity Deaths”, including a soul singer who didn’t start recording until age 62, a publishing magnate responsible for Donald Trump’s “The Art of the Deal”, a former UCLA Film School Dean who was responsible for Americans scaling Everest, the boxing champ whose life inspired an Oscar-winning movie, an actor-athlete-poet-painter who played James Bond’s CIA pal Felix Leiter, a Winnipeg-born giant of TV game shows, and a half dozen more!
Chillpak Hollywood Hour #222
What do “Star Trek” and “The X-Files” have in common this week? Dean Haglund! He just got back from performing at the big TREK convention in Las Vegas and he shares stories of the event. And as soon as he got back to Los Angeles, it was time to report to the set this week for a television series called “The X-Files”! WHAT?!? Dean gives details.
And if all that wasn’t enough, Dean appeared on “Coast to Coast AM” this week and he shares his thoughts about that appearance.
Of course, Dean’s co-host, your friend in podcasting, Phil Leirness, has much to share as well … He holds court on a variety of topics, including a stage show about Sherlock Holmes’ sidekick “Watson”, the reality competition show “The Glee Project”, the blockbuster film Rise of the Planet of the Apes, and the classic of 1930′s cinema, The Women.
All that, plus discussions of Kickstarter, the UK riots, the US economic meltdown … And you won’t want to miss Phil’s report about the Beverly Hills Police Department.
It’s YOUR Chillpak Hollywood Hour … With a vengeance!
