Chillpak Hollywood Hour #527

Next week, your friends in podcasting will be back doing what they do best, trying to make sense of the world through insight, inspiration and irreverence. Because they are both still on the road, however, THIS week’s episode is another aural pastiche …

Lily Holleman joins Phil to discuss Route 66, her new movie, the return of “Twin Peaks” and what it was like to befriend The Lone Gunmen in Dallas. And speaking of The Lone Gunmen (in Dallas), the 2nd half of the show is a panel discussion, where Dean, Tom and Bruce answer questions from a moderator and from an audience.

Chillpak Hollywood Hour #525

From May 26 through 28, your friends in podcasting converged in Dallas for a Famous Monsters Convention. While there, they filmed interviews and footage for part 2 of their documentary The Truth Is Out There, AND they recorded an entire podcast with special guests Bruce Harwood and Tom Braidwood! It’s a reunion of The Lone Gunmen on YOUR Chillpak Hollywood Hour

Chillpak Hollywood Hour #511

The 7th of ten planned “Top Ten” shows your friends in podcasting are doing to commemorate Year 10 of YOUR Chillpak Hollywood Hour is one of their most personal and unusual shows of the year … Back when they were shooting their epic documentary The Truth Is Out There, someone asked Phil whether he and Dean do the podcast to promote their movies, or whether they make movies to promote their podcast. Phil found amusing the assumption that promotion MUST be a part of what he and Dean were doing and yet found the question an interesting one. Almost six years since the World Premiere of that film, which is truly equal parts comedy, consciousness and conspiracy, it is apparent that what motivates them to keep making films is the same thing that motivates them to keep doing this show: A desire to engage in conversation. Join them this week, as they take a look back at “TRUTH” and count down the top ten things that strike them now when watching their prescient, disturbing, moving and truly funny documentary. Even if you haven’t seen the movie, you will find the discussion about it inspiring, insightful, irreverent. It is YOUR Chillpak Hollywood Hour, after all!

Chillpak Hollywood hour #480

On this week’s episode will find your friends in podcasting in excellent form, revisiting their show of 16 May when they predicted the quality and box office futures of several films based solely on the quality of those films’ trailers. Suicide Squad, Approaching The Unknown, Legend of Tarzan, Bad Moms, Central Intelligence, Bitel, X-Men: Apocalypse, Weiner, Independence Day: Resurgence, Star Trek Beyond, Ghostbusters: Answer the Call, The Infiltrator, all get discussed. Plus, a silent film starring the “IT Girl” gets championed and Garry Marhsall gets remembered.

Let’s all go to the movies!

Chillpak Hollywood Hour #428

From L.A. to LA, SoCal to the Big Easy, from Los Angeles to Australia, Hollywood to Down Under, this installment of YOUR Chillpak Hollywood Hour might just be one for the time capsule.

The show starts off with Phil Leirness interviewing Lily Holleman, who is on location in Louisiana, filming “NCIS: New Orleans.” They chat about historic hotels, Scott Bakula, the wives of Navy S.E.A.L.S. and the Lafayette theater shooting.

Then, Phil connects with Dean Haglund, who regales with stories of his travels to Connecticut (where he hung out with fellow “Lone Gunmen” Tom Braidwood and Bruce Harwood), New Zealand and Melbourne. Dean talks of his latest improv comedy gigs, shares his disappointment with Ant-Man, and previews his forthcoming trip to Vancouver to appear in the six episode reboot of “The X-Files”.

Finally, Phil dusts off his soapbox and rants about people who look down at what others do for a living.

All that, PLUS a brand new theme song!

Enjoy!

Chillpak Hollywood Hour #232

Starting like the opening to a spy thriller, this week’s installment of YOUR Chillpak Hollywood Hour takes to the open road, as Dean Haglund clears customs on his way back from Australia and is picked up curbside at LAX by Phil Leirness (himself only recently returned from the Pacific Northwest).

No sooner has Phil put the car in gear, than the conversation comes fast and furious – as insightful, irreverent and inspiring as you’ve come to expect.

So, hop in the back seat and buckle up because your friends in podcasting are about to burn some serious rubber on the information superhighway!

Chillpak Hollywood Hour #231

Dean Haglund is in Sydney, Australia. Phil Leirness is in Salem, Oregon.

So, how is it that this week’s show comes to you from both Los Angeles and Atlanta? Through the magic of podcasting, that’s how!

Along with some thoughts recorded in Los Angeles a few days ago, this week’s show features highlights from two panels your friends in podcasting recorded while at Dragon*Con (the largest fan run popular culture convention in the world) in Atlanta …

During Dean’s “Welcome Back, Dean Haglund!” panel (put on by X-Track), Dean answers questions and tells hilarious anecdotes about such topics as Area 51, his favorite episode of “The X-Files” and his television hosting gigs on both “Ghost Adventures Live” and YouToo TV. During Dean and Phil’s The Truth Is Out There post-screening panel, they answer questions from the audience about their film, and discuss our strength coming from our diversity and just what makes Dragon*Con so special.

This week, on YOUR Chillpak Hollywood Hour!

Chillpak Hollywood Hour #139

Back in January of 2010, your friends in podcasting, Dean Haglund and Phil Leirness, were in Canada shooting footage for TWO projects: THE TRUTH IS OUT THERE (a documentary about the world of conspiracy) and HELL GIGS (about a return to Dean’s roots as a comic).

While in Vancouver, they got together with Dean’s good friends Bruce Harwood and Tom Braidwood to record this week’s show. For those listeners who were not fans of The X-Files, Dean, Bruce and Tom played (respectively) Richard “Ringo” Langly, John Fitzgerald Byers and Melvin Frohike. Collectively, those characters are known to millions of fans the world over as “The Lone Gunmen”, conspiracy theorists, computer hackers, government watchdogs and publishers of The Magic Bullet newsletter, who aided agents Mulder and Scully through nine years of investigations and who were featured in their very own spin-off series.

This episode of YOUR Chillpak Hollywood Hour has become a classic. And it’s available again for the first time in almost two years.

Enjoy.

Again.
