The 7th of ten planned “Top Ten” shows your friends in podcasting are doing to commemorate Year 10 of YOUR Chillpak Hollywood Hour is one of their most personal and unusual shows of the year … Back when they were shooting their epic documentary The Truth Is Out There, someone asked Phil whether he and Dean do the podcast to promote their movies, or whether they make movies to promote their podcast. Phil found amusing the assumption that promotion MUST be a part of what he and Dean were doing and yet found the question an interesting one. Almost six years since the World Premiere of that film, which is truly equal parts comedy, consciousness and conspiracy, it is apparent that what motivates them to keep making films is the same thing that motivates them to keep doing this show: A desire to engage in conversation. Join them this week, as they take a look back at “TRUTH” and count down the top ten things that strike them now when watching their prescient, disturbing, moving and truly funny documentary. Even if you haven’t seen the movie, you will find the discussion about it inspiring, insightful, irreverent. It is YOUR Chillpak Hollywood Hour, after all!
Today is the day the annual movie awards season comes to a merciful conclusion and your friends in podcasting stick the final nail in its coffin with their annual review of the Oscars telecast wherein they reveal who they predicted would win in all 24 categories. Of course, Dean and Phil really hope you will enjoy this week’s installment of YOUR Chillpak Hollywood Hour, which covers such diverse topics as the historic L.A. neighborhood of Los Feliz, the plays of Anton Checkhov, the films of the 1930′s, the critical debate over Prometheus, the under-appreciation of MIB3, some new shows on HBO, Dean’s shocking attitude towards prostitution, and why we really all should just get along.
Because Dean Haglund is packing up for Galaxy Fest in Colorado Springs, Colorado (to perform comedy and show The Truth Is Out There), and Phil Leirness is hitting the road for the 2012 International UFO Congress in Fountain Hills, Arizona (where the TRUTH is also screening), this week’s installment of YOUR Chillpak Hollywood Hour is coming to you a few hours later than we like.
It is, however, one of our very best shows!
That it’s President’s Day in the U.S. leads to a discussion of presidential UFO lore, Ronald Reagan, Jimmy Carter, JFK, Marilyn Monroe, Lucille Ball and Merv Griffin. An Albert Einstein quote leads to a discussion of the intuitive mind and the rational mind and the way we might move beyond divisiveness in an effort to address the common challenges facing us all. The Chillpak Hollywood Live Event of the Week leads to a discussion of Phil’s admiration for an actress he had never before seen, the best director working in theatre today, and the way storytellers strengths in one medium can serve as weakness in another.
All that, plus TWO Chillpak Hollywood Lawsuits of the Week (the one involving Chris Pine, “Captain Kirk” from JJ Abrams’ re-booth of Star Trek is a paticular hoot.
